Job Posting: Travel Coordinator

Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery is looking for a Travel Coordinator to supervise and manage the travels of monks and nuns to its international centers in America, Asia and Europe. The Travel Coordinator will plan and implement these visits in consultation with the centers and the monastery. The Travel Coordinator will also assist Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche’s travel secretary with practical details as needed.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Travels of Monks and Nuns
  • Consult with the centers to prepare a consolidated yearly list of requested visits.
  • Collaborate with the monastery’s education committee to plan the yearly travels for the monks and nuns based on the centers’ requests.
  • Collaborate with hosts to obtain required visas.
  • Ensure that the visiting monks and nuns have all required documents (visa, insurance, etc).
  • Plan and purchase flights and arrange pick-up and accommodation in consultation with the centers.
  • Calculate and collect travel costs.
  • Assist in promoting the visits of the monks and nuns on websites and social media.
  • Communicate any dietary, health, or other special needs of the visitors to the hosts.
  • Manage the availability of translators and all practical needs in this regard.
  1. Assisting Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche’s travel secretary
  • Research travel planning (flight schedules, etc).
  • Prepare travel packages with invitations, insurance, schedules, etc.
  • Calculate and collect travel costs.
  • Manage the availability of translators and all practical needs in this regard.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in Nepali or Tibetan to communicate with the monastery.
  • Fluency in English to communicate with the international centers.
  • Effective communication skills in an international environment.
  • Good computer skills including emails and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • A careful and transparent management of the resources.
  • Long term commitment to the position.
